Nuria Sanctuary.

We find the Nuria Santuary in the Nuria valley, a Pyrenean valley in the municipality of Queralbs, in the Ripoll basin in the Gerona region. The shrine is at an altitude of 1964 meters over the sea level. The valley is surrounded by peaks of almost 3000 meters, where many sources and streams are born. Its location at the eastern end of the Pyrenees, and its climate, give a flora and fauna has characteristics of high alpine mountains. In addition, there live animals and plant species endemic to the Pyrenees. This valley is accessible by cog railway or on foot along mountain trails some of which reach the Sanctuary.

Nuria Sanctuary

In the valley there is an artificial lake, the Sanctuary of the Virgin of Núria that houses the carving Romanesque. The present church was opened in 1911. Shortly after adding the hotel and began the construction of "Via Crucis", work which wasn't end until 1963.

In 1931, in room number 202 of the hotel, was drafted the Statute of Autonomy of Catalonia, which was ratified at the polls on August 2, 1931 and approved by the Parliament on September 9, 1932.

Due to location, the Vall de Nuria is an important enclave for the practice of mountain sports. It has a very family ski resort and it is the starting point for many mountain crossings  both winter and summer, one of the most popular could be the crossing Nuria valley - Ull deTer Valley,  that joins the Núria Valley and the Ter valley. The ski resort organizes many activities both in winter and summer. (Workshops igloo building, snowshoe races, snow sculptures, dances, races, etc..
